Ladbrokes is an established name in UK gambling with a history that dates back to the late 1800s. It all began with a partnership formed between two men involved in horse racing betting at Ladbroke Hall in Worcestershire. They took the name Ladbrokes in 1902 and so began the story of the UK’s oldest bookmaker.
Our Ladbrokes Review is based on personal opinion only. This is not official marketing material from Ladbrokes.
Ladbrokes took to the internet in 2000 and from there began expanding beyond bookmaking and into online poker, casino games, bingo and lotteries. In 2016, Ladbrokes merged with Gala Coral to form the Ladbrokes Coral Group and one of the world’s largest gambling brands. Today, the Ladbrokes Coral Group runs more than 3500 betting shops in the real world and brings in more than £2 billion in revenue per year.
That all sets the background to establish Ladbrokes as a legitimate online gambling site. This is not some new, fly-by-night type of operation. Ladbrokes are well-known, experienced and financially stable. This Ladbrokes Casino review will take a close look at all aspects of the casino, but we can establish early on that this is a safe place to play real money games online.
The remainder of this review will attempt to paint a detailed picture of what it is like to play online at Ladbrokes Casino. We’ll be looking at the game variety, slots, table games, live dealer games and deposit methods throughout this review. You will also find customer support information and a list of restricted countries at the very bottom of this page.
Game Variety
Ladbrokes Casino boasts roughly 540 games in total divided between online slots, table games, live dealer games, video poker and casual arcade-style games. However, the complete list of games is only available through the Ladbrokes download. If you play through the website only, the selection sits right at 225 games.
Whether or not you download the Ladbrokes software, the game selection provides a healthy mix of game types. The bulk of the Ladbrokes game selection involves slots, but you’ll also find the most popular types of table games and multiple variations of each. Under the “casual games” section, you’ll find a mish-mash of scratch cards and arcade-like titles such as bowling, darts, penalty shoot-out games and keno.
Overall, the game variety is more than adequate with nearly 600 games on offer and new titles released every month. There comes a certain point where the game variety is so extensive that adding even more games to the mix does not make any one casino better than the other in that regard. Ladbrokes has reached that point so they get a high score on game variety.
Now, we’ll go into more detail regarding the quality of games by type (slots, table games, live dealer games and video poker).
Ladbrokes Slots
Ladbrokes Casino leans heavily on Microgaming and Playtech for its slot games. In fact, I am to this day unable to find a slot from any other provider here. This may be a good or bad thing depending on how you feel about Microgaming and Playtech. Both developers are reputable and safe companies that are well-known in online gambling and both have plenty of fans.
Microgaming and Playtech have each produced slots that are basically online casino classics at this point. Microgaming titles such as Immortal Romance and Thunderstruck II might as well have their own fan clubs. Likewise, Playtech is well known for games such as Beach Life and Playtech’s propensity to theme slots after major entertainment brands such as Man of Steel, Gladiator, Green Lantern and more.
Playtech took a big hit in 2017 when they were forced to remove all Marvel-themed games (such as Spider Man, Iron Man and dozens of others) after Disney refused to renew their licensing agreement. This has really hurt Playtech, but they have done a commendable job of replacing those games with other unique titles.
If you enjoy Microgaming and Playtech, you should be right at home here. If you are not familiar with either company, you should consider visiting Ladbrokes and giving them a try. Some gamblers love the slots produced by both companies; other gamblers are less enthusiastic.
Microgaming and Playtech are both perfectly safe, but their games are having a tough time keeping up with some of the latest developments coming out of younger slots developers. On the other hand, these slots are known for being more generous than average and are simple to play. There is nothing wrong with either company, but I would like to see Ladbrokes add a few more developers to the portfolio just for variety’s sake.
In all, there are nearly 200 slots in the no-download casino that you can play for real money through your browser. If you get the full Ladbrokes Casino download, that number bumps up to nearly 500 slots.
Table Games and Video Poker
The “table and card games” area on the Ladbrokes website is where you’ll find all manner of traditional table games and variations of those. Inside this area you will find all the basics such as roulette, blackjack, hi-lo, casino holdem, 3 card brag, craps, sic bo and all manner of variations.
For example, roulette alone comes in fourteen variations just on instant play website. This includes your standard American and European roulette games in addition to 3D roulette, 101-number roulette and even an “Age of the Gods” roulette variation among others. This same type of variety also applies to the many blackjack games on offer at Ladbrokes.
Playtech and Microgaming have produced some of the better table games on the internet when it comes to graphics and overall presentation. I am still often frustrated by the lack of attention many casinos give to their table games. Ladbrokes does not suffer from this problem. If you enjoy table games, you will have a nice experience at Ladbrokes Casino.
Much of what I have said about Ladbrokes table games also applies to their video poker. The video poker games here are definitely a notch above the typical experience found online. What this means is their video poker games are presented with above-average graphics and can also be found in all manner of variations including multiple rules sets, different pay tables and single or multi-hand options for most games.
Live Dealer Games
The strong points of the Ladbrokes live dealer casino are that it relies on Playtech software which means high quality video, competent dealers and software that works flawlessly on all platforms. Playtech is very good at what it does on a technical level.
Playtech streams all live dealer games from its own, private studios in Europe and Asia with dealers who are native speakers in various languages. Each game is available in multiple languages and often in multiple variations with dealers on standby around the clock so you’ll always be able to log on to play and chat with real, human dealers.
Ladbrokes also has several exclusive tables that Playtech reserves only for Ladbrokes players. Aside from it feeling like a more exclusive experience, the Ladbrokes-only tables fill up less often and can be used to host special promotions just for Ladbrokes players.
If you do ever run into a full table and can’t find a seat, Ladbrokes live dealer tables do support betting-behind. What this means is you can join as a spectator and bet on the outcomes of each round even though you’re not actually at the table. In short, Ladbrokes offers a nice overall experience for live dealer players.
There is however one major weak point. Game selection lacks compared to other major casino sites. Ladbrokes still only has a grand total of five different games on offer: roulette, blackjack, casino holdem, baccarat and hi-lo. Although, I should note that each of these games is offered in multiple variations and with multiple tables available around the clock. You will rarely have trouble finding a seat at any one game-type.
Real Money Deposit Methods
Ladbrokes does not accept many deposit methods, but the ones it does accept are all fast, reliable and easy to use. They may offer additional deposit methods for players specifically in your country that are not listed here, so your best bet is always to log in to your account and visit the deposit link to see all options that are available. Customer Support
Ladbrokes offers live customer support 24 hours a day via phone, e-mail, live chat and Twitter. The support team can speak multiple languages, but there is a clear preference for English. To date, their customer support has been responsive and questions are answered quickly.
Restricted Countries
One of the biggest drawbacks to Ladbrokes Casino is they do not accept very many countries. As you can see below, their list of restricted countries is extensive. You will definitely want to check this list for your country of residence before attempting to sign up. If you live outside the UK, there is a good chance Ladbrokes does not accept customers from your country.
