Online Casinos in Ecuador

Not trackedEcuador closed its land-based casinos following the national referendum of 2011, and the official gazette records the administrative steps that followed: by Acuerdo No. 20120027, published in Registro Oficial No. 680 of 11 April 2012, the Ministerio de Turismo cancelled the tourism registrations of casinos and gaming halls, and minimum requirements were set for places on retraining courses run by SECAP for former workers of casinos, gaming halls and bingos. No instrument addressing online casino play in Ecuador could be read, and no Ecuadorian body licensing or supervising online casino play was found, so the market's casino status is not recorded. The operative instruments for the land-based closure - the referendum result and the decree implementing it - were not sourced, so neither is quoted nor described here.
What Could and Could Not Be Established
No official source addressing online casino play in Ecuador could be read, and no Ecuadorian body that licenses or supervises online casino play was found. This page therefore states no casino market status. That is a deliberate omission rather than an oversight: a status on this site decides which operators a market lists, and reading one across from a land-based measure is exactly the inference this site does not make.
The Land-Based Closure, as the Gazette Records It
Ecuador's land-based casinos were closed following the national referendum of 2011, and the official gazette's own index records the administrative consequences on its own pages even where the instruments themselves are not quoted here. The gazette's own page for issue No. 680, dated 11 April 2012, lists under the Ministerio de Turismo "20120027 Cancélanse varios registros de turismo de los casinos y salas de juego (Bingo-Mecánicos)" - Acuerdo No. 20120027, cancelling various tourism registrations of casinos and gaming halls. The gazette's own search listing for casinos carries two further entries. One sets "los requisitos mínimos para la inscripción en los cursos de capacitación ofertados por el SECAP, para los ex trabajadores de casinos y salas de juego y bingos" - minimum requirements for enrolment on training courses offered by the national vocational training service for former workers of casinos, gaming halls and bingos. The other, from before the closure, is a joint health and tourism instrument requiring casino operators to display a warning message inside and outside their premises.
Those entries show a sector that was wound down. They do not, individually or together, state the legal position of online casino play, and this page does not treat them as doing so. The two instruments that matter most for the land-based closure - the referendum result proclaimed by the Consejo Nacional Electoral and the executive decree implementing it - were not sourced, so neither is quoted nor described here.

Support in Ecuador
If gambling is causing you harm, there is help you can reach today. Ecuador has no national gambling helpline to call. Gambling Therapy offers support to people anywhere rather than in one country, and it is reached online rather than by phone: its own site at https://www.gamblingtherapy.org/ sets out how to get in touch. Two national lines also take calls, and both are in the footer of every page here: the National Gambling Helpline, run by GamCare, on 0808 8020 133 in the United Kingdom, and the National Problem Gambling Helpline on 1-800-MY-RESET in the United States, which the National Council on Problem Gambling publishes at https://www.ncpgambling.org/help-treatment/, read on 21 October 2026. Each is a national line for its own country and may not connect from Ecuador at all; Gambling Therapy is reached online and from anywhere.
