Online Casinos in Louisiana
Sweepstakes
ProhibitedLouisiana licenses no online casino, and its law addresses internet gambling directly. Revised Statutes 14:90.3 creates the offence of gambling by computer, and its exclusions are premises-based: riverboat, land-based, video draw poker, charitable and pari-mutuel gaming are excluded only while the wagering is done on the premises of the licensed establishment. Sports wagering is excluded when conducted in compliance with the sports wagering chapters, so Louisiana is one of the states that licenses online sports betting while making no provision for online casino games. Dual-currency sweepstakes games are inside the offence: a sentence added by Act No. 182 of the 2026 Regular Session provides that an internet game using a dual-currency system of payment and simulating any form of gambling constitutes gambling by computer. The regulator is the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, and the minimum age for casino games and sports wagers is 21.
Louisiana Licenses No Online Casino
Louisiana does not license online casino play, and unlike many states it has a statute aimed squarely at internet gambling. Revised Statutes 14:90.3 provides that "Gambling by computer is the intentional conducting, or directly assisting in the conducting as a business of any game, contest, lottery, or contrivance whereby a person risks the loss of anything of value in order to realize a profit when accessing the internet, World Wide Web, or any part thereof by way of any computer, computer system, computer network, computer software, or any server."
What makes the section decisive for online casino games is the shape of its exclusions. Licensed Louisiana gaming is excluded only while play happens in the building: "The conducting or assisting in the conducting of gaming activities or operations upon a riverboat, at the official gaming establishment, by operating an electronic video draw poker device, by a charitable gaming licensee, or at a pari-mutuel wagering facility, conducting slot machine gaming at an eligible horse racing facility, or the operation of a state lottery which is licensed for operation and regulated under the provisions of Chapters 4 and 11 of Title 4, Chapters 4, 5, 6, and 7 of Title 27, or Subtitle XI of Title 47 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950, shall not be considered gambling by computer for the purposes of this Section, as long as the wagering is done on the premises of the licensed establishment." The prohibition also reaches those who assist: "Any applicant, licensed entity, platform provider, geolocation provider, gaming content supplier, promoter, endorser, media affiliate, or any other person who knowingly supports or facilitates the operation, conduct, or promotion of gambling by computer within this state shall be fined not more than twenty thousand dollars, or imprisoned with or without hard labor for not more than five years, or both." This site does not point readers at operators that are not licensed where they are.
Online Sports Betting Is Licensed, Online Casino Is Not
Louisiana is one of the states where the two verticals are treated quite differently, and the difference is written into the same section. Sports wagering is carved out of the internet gambling offence: "Sports wagering shall not be considered gambling by computer for purposes of this Section as long as the wagering is conducted in compliance with Chapter 10 of Title 27 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950 or Chapter 10 of Subtitle XI of Title 47 of the Louisiana Revised Statutes of 1950." That chapter contemplates wagering from a phone, since a player must "(c) Have a wagering account established with the operator, if the player is attempting to place the sports wager through a website or mobile application." and must "(b) Be physically located in a parish that has approved a proposition authorizing sports wagering."
No equivalent carve-out exists for casino games played online. A licensed Louisiana casino may offer slots and table games on its own floor; it has no route to offer them to a player at home. Readers should not read the availability of mobile sports betting in Louisiana as any indication about online casino games.
Dual-Currency Sweepstakes Games Are Gambling by Computer
Louisiana legislated on the sweepstakes casino model in 2026. House Bill 883 of the 2026 Regular Session was described on the Legislature's own bill page as "GAMBLING: Provides relative to enforcement of illegal online gambling (EN SEE FISC NOTE GF EX See Note)", its history records "Signed by the Governor. Becomes Act No. 182." and "Effective date: 08/01/2026." An earlier attempt, Senate Bill 181 of the 2025 Regular Session — "GAMING: Provides relative to prohibitions in gaming." — is recorded on the Legislature's own bill page as "Vetoed by the Governor", which is why the operative provision is the 2026 act.
The act added a sentence to the definition of the offence: "Any game, contest, or promotion that is available on the internet or accessible on a mobile phone, computer terminal, or similar access device that utilizes a dual-currency system of payment allowing the player to exchange the currency for any prize or award, cash, or cash equivalents, or any chance to win any prize or award, cash, or cash equivalents, and simulates any form of gambling constitutes gambling by computer." The test is the dual-currency structure rather than what a product calls itself. Sweepstakes casinos and real-money casinos are separate products and neither is presented here as a licensed version of the other.
Who Regulates, and the Minimum Age
The regulator describes its own remit as follows: "The mission of the Louisiana Gaming Control Board is to regulate all gaming activities under its jurisdiction in a manner which instills public confidence and trust that gaming activities are conducted honestly and free from criminal and corruptive elements and to ensure the integrity of individual gaming activities by the regulation of persons, practices, associations, and activities within the gaming industry." What a Louisiana player can complain to it about is a useful indication of what the state licenses: "If you would like to file a complaint against a casino, video draw poker establishment or mobile sports wagering platform, please complete the following form available on this website."
The minimum age is 21 and it covers both verticals: "A. It is unlawful for any person under twenty-one years of age to play casino games, gaming devices, or slot machines or to place a wager on a sports event."

Why No Casinos Are Listed for Louisiana
Real-money online casino play is prohibited in Louisiana, so no casinos are listed here.
Sweepstakes Availability in Louisiana
Sweepstakes casinos play for prizes under sweepstakes law rather than taking wagers, so their availability is a different question from whether Louisiana licenses real-money casino play.
No sweepstakes casino has had its availability in Louisiana recorded yet. Availability is stored per site and per state with a source and a date, so nothing appears here until it has been checked.
Online Casino Status by State
Real-money and sweepstakes status are tracked separately, and a dash means nobody has checked yet — not that nothing is permitted.
