About Tether (USDT)
What Tether and USD₮ Are
Tether issues USD₮, a US dollar-referenced stablecoin, and Tether styles the ticker with the ₮ sign where most cashiers write USDT. The token is issued as a separate deployment on each blockchain it runs on, which matters at a casino cashier: a deposit in USD₮ is a deposit of a particular deployment over a particular network, and the networks are not interchangeable.
Tether's Own Terms Exclude Several Markets
Tether's terms of service, published on tether.to, define a Prohibited Person to include any U.S. Person, any Canadian Person and any Singaporean Person, as well as the Government of Venezuela, any resident of a Prohibited Jurisdiction and any Sanctioned Person. The same terms define a Prohibited Jurisdiction as Cuba, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Iran, Syria and five regions of Ukraine: Crimea, which the terms describe as a region of Ukraine annexed by the Russian Federation, and then the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic, the self-proclaimed Luhansk People's Republic, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia, each of which the terms call simply a region of Ukraine.
The consequence is stated twice. Tether grants the right to use its Services only to a person who is not a Prohibited Person and does not operate a wallet for one. And on U.S. Persons specifically the terms say that, except for Eligible Contract Participants Tether agrees to in its sole discretion, they are prohibited from directly or indirectly holding, owning or operating a Tether Tokens Wallet or Tether Tokens in any way, or otherwise transacting on or using any Tether Tokens.
This is Tether's own contract, not a law. It is not a statement that holding USD₮ is illegal in the United States, in Canada or in Singapore, and nothing here should be read as one. What it does mean is that a reader in those markets is excluded by the issuer's own terms from the asset a cashier is inviting them to deposit.
Five Legacy Blockchains Were Wound Down
On 11 July 2025 Tether announced that it would discontinue USD₮ redemptions and freeze remaining tokens on five legacy blockchains — Omni Layer, Bitcoin Cash SLP, Kusama, EOS and Algorand — effective 1 September 2025. Tether told customers holding USD₮ on those networks to redeem as soon as possible or request an issuance on a supported blockchain.
That is a discontinuation of five deployments, not of the asset. USD₮ continues on the networks Tether supports. The distinction is the one a reader needs: a cashier that still lists Omni or Algorand as a USD₮ network is listing a rail Tether no longer redeems, while a cashier listing TRON or Ethereum is not.
Recognition in Abu Dhabi
Tether announced on 8 December 2025 that USD₮ had been recognised as an Accepted Fiat-Referenced Token within the Abu Dhabi Global Market, and that the recognition allows Authorised Persons licensed by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of ADGM to offer Regulated Activities involving USD₮ on Aptos, Celo, Cosmos, Kaia, Near, Polkadot, Tezos, TON and TRON. Tether's own footnote to that announcement lists Avalanche, Ethereum and Solana alongside those nine. This is Tether's account of a regulator's decision rather than the regulator's own page, and is reported as such.
The European Position
Tether wound down its euro token, EUR₮, and ceased EUR₮ redemptions across all supported blockchains on 27 November 2025. EUR₮ is a different token from USD₮ and is not what a cashier means by USDT; it is noted here only because it is the one thing Tether has published that touches its European product strategy.
No claim is made here about whether USD₮ may be offered to users in the European Economic Area. No Tether page states a European restriction on USD₮, and the delistings that prompted the question were decisions by individual exchanges, each of which is primary only for its own action. So nothing is stated here either way.
Fees and Timings
No deposit fee and no confirmation time are stated here. Both depend on the blockchain a deposit is sent over and on the casino's own confirmation policy, neither of which Tether publishes, and a network fee quoted today would not hold tomorrow. Neither is estimated.
