MuchBetter
MuchBetter is an app-based payment wallet built around mobile payments, operated by MIR Limited UK Ltd and authorised as an electronic money institution by the UK Financial Conduct Authority under reference number 900704. Two restrictions matter to a reader. The FCA's register records that on 11 May 2026 MIR Limited UK Ltd gave a Voluntary Undertaking to refrain from onboarding new customers without the FCA's prior written consent. Separately, MuchBetter's own customer terms require an account holder to reside outside its Non-Serviced Country list, which MuchBetter may amend without notice. MuchBetter's prohibited-transaction list bars illegal gambling rather than gambling as such.
About MuchBetter
What MuchBetter Is
MuchBetter describes itself in its own customer terms as an app-based payment wallet allowing customers and merchants to process and manage e-payments, with an optional physical card. The wallet is operated by MIR Limited UK Ltd, a company registered in London, and MuchBetter's terms state that MIR Limited UK Ltd is an authorised electronic money issuer authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority in the United Kingdom under FCA Reference Number 900704. The FCA's own register confirms that number against MIR Limited UK Ltd and records its payment services and electronic money status as Authorised Electronic Money Institution. Cards and wearables are a separate programme: MuchBetter states they are issued by Paynovate SA, an e-money issuer regulated by the National Bank of Belgium, under licence by Mastercard.
An FCA Undertaking Not to Onboard New Customers
The most important thing a reader can know about MuchBetter is on the regulator's page rather than MuchBetter's. Under the requirements placed on the firm, the FCA's register records that on 11 May 2026 MIR Limited UK Ltd entered into a Voluntary Undertaking with the FCA to refrain from onboarding new customers without the FCA's prior written consent.
That is a restriction on taking on new customers, not a statement that the wallet has stopped working for the people who already hold one. But it is the direct answer to the question a deposit page raises: a reader who does not already have a MuchBetter account should not assume they can open one. The register's rendering of the undertaking is truncated, so nothing is claimed here about its duration or any conditions beyond the sentence quoted.
Countries MuchBetter Does Not Serve
MuchBetter applies a second, separate restriction by geography. Its customer terms make it a condition of being an Authorised User that you reside in a country which is not within the Non-Serviced Country list, which MuchBetter may amend without notice. That list is published as part of MuchBetter's Account Violations and Prohibited Countries policy and is incorporated into the customer terms. MuchBetter states that the list is subject to change at its own discretion, so the only version worth relying on is the one MuchBetter is publishing when a reader checks it. Anyone opening a MuchBetter account should read it there first.
Illegal Gambling, Not Gambling
MuchBetter is a wallet widely offered by gaming merchants, and its own rules are consistent with that. Its customer terms define a Prohibited Transaction as covering drugs, pornographic content or services, illegal downloads, illegal gambling, intellectual property infringement, firearms, Ponzi schemes and anything prohibited by applicable law. The qualifier is the point: the term barred is illegal gambling, not gambling. MuchBetter does not publish a general prohibition on gambling payments.
The 2023 European Disruption Is Resolved
MuchBetter's European service was interrupted in 2023 when the Bank of Lithuania revoked the licence of UAB PayrNet, the electronic money institution MuchBetter had used as its European partner. MuchBetter announced on 26 September 2023 that it had resumed service in Europe and that it would settle its European customers' outstanding PayrNet balances from its own funds. This is history rather than a current limitation, and it is set out here only because the headline reads otherwise: MuchBetter did not withdraw from the European Economic Area.
Fees and Timings
MuchBetter publishes no fee schedule a reader can reach: muchbetter.com/en/fees returns a page-not-found screen. It publishes no deposit or withdrawal time either, so neither figure is given here.
