About GoPay

What GoPay Is

GoPay is an Indonesian electronic money and electronic wallet service, used for transfers, bill payments, merchant payments over the QRIS national QR standard and purchases inside the Gojek and Tokopedia apps. Its own privacy notice names PT Dompet Anak Bangsa as the operating company and describes its services as including its electronic money and electronic wallet services. GoPay dates its own beginning to 2016, when it first appeared to facilitate payment for Gojek services.

Who Licenses It

GoPay states site-wide that GoPay Indonesia is licensed and supervised by Bank Indonesia. The same statement separates the credit products: GoPay Pinjam, operated by PT Mapan Global Reksa, and GoPay Later, operated by PT Multifinance Anak Bangsa, are licensed and supervised by Indonesia's Financial Services Authority rather than by the central bank. That is the whole of the licensing position GoPay publishes, and it is Indonesian throughout.

Why This Is Not a Casino Deposit Route

Indonesia is the market GoPay is licensed in, and online gambling is prohibited there. A public advisory from the Ponorogo district prosecutor's office, one of Indonesia's local Kejaksaan Negeri offices, states that online gambling is a serious criminal offence carrying heavy penalties, and the Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs has reported handling 4.1 million items of gambling content in Indonesia's digital space. That advisory is a local office speaking for its own district rather than a national statement from the Attorney General's Office. OCS records the statutes, the penalties and the dates on its country page for Indonesia. The narrower point for a payment page is that a rail existing in a market is not the same as that rail being usable for gambling in it. Indonesia prohibits online gambling, so GoPay is not a deposit route for one.

What This Page Does Not Claim

GoPay publishes no consumer terms of use that can be read on its own site, so nothing is claimed here about whether its terms carry a gambling clause of their own. That is a gap in what GoPay publishes and not a finding that no such clause exists. No fee, limit or settlement time is given either, for the same reason: GoPay sets out transfer allowances and loan rates in marketing copy that changes by the month, and a figure taken from it would be wrong within weeks.
