Founding and Ownership

Evolution dates its own inception to 2006 and its brand page describes it as having run online live casino since that year. Its parent company is Evolution AB (publ), based in Sweden and listed on Nasdaq Stockholm under the ticker EVO; no company sits above it. The group bought NetEnt in 2020, taking Red Tiger with it because NetEnt already owned Red Tiger, and Evolution's own announcement states that from 1 December 2020 Evolution and NetEnt operate as a group under the name Evolution, offering products under the Evolution, Ezugi, NetEnt and Red Tiger brands. It completed the purchase of Big Time Gaming in 2021.

Evolution’s own brands page today lists three brands beyond Evolution, NetEnt, Red Tiger, Ezugi and Big Time Gaming. It describes Nolimit City, established in 2014, as a studio that "develops games powered by its proprietary platform and distinctive xMechanics, delivering highly volatile gameplay and striking themes"; Sneaky Slots as "the newest slot brand of Evolution, designed to expand the Evolution RNG portfolio"; and DigiWheel, launched in 2019, as having "created the world’s first patented high-definition spinning gaming wheel".

What It Makes

Evolution's core product is live dealer casino. Its own brand page lists live roulette, blackjack, baccarat, dragon tiger, super sic bo, poker variants and craps, alongside formats built for digital audiences. It states that it created a new category in online gaming, the live casino game show, naming Crazy Time, Mega Ball, Dream Catcher, Lightning Roulette, Monopoly Live and Deal or No Deal. It also publishes First Person titles, which are random-number versions of the live games and game shows rather than streamed tables.

Where It Is Licensed

Evolution Gaming Malta Limited is licensed and regulated by the Malta Gaming Authority under licence MGA/CRP/187/2010/01, as stated in Evolution's own legal text. In Great Britain, the Gambling Commission's public register records Evolution Malta Holding Limited under account number 41655 with an active remote gambling software licence, 041655-R-322523-013. Evolution states that it operates under licences in multiple regulated markets.

Dual Play

Evolution publishes a page describing a product it calls Dual Play, which it says “brings together land-based and online casino entertainment experiences.” Its own description of the mechanism is “One physical table. Played on-site and online; at the same time.”, and of the reason for it, that “Existing customers can play online when they cannot visit in person.” That is the company's account of its own product. Nothing here says which casinos run it, because the page names none.
