POLi is an online bank-transfer method: instead of entering card details, the payer authorises a payment from their own internet banking account. Australia Post, its former owner, shut POLi down in Australia on 30 September 2023, and Merco Ltd took the service over. POLi now operates in New Zealand only.

POLi is a bank-transfer payment method rather than a card method. POLi's own merchant site describes it as a way for customers to pay directly from their online banking account, so a POLi payment debits the payer's own bank account instead of a card line.
Who Operates POLi
POLi was owned by Australia Post. When Australia Post decided to close the Australian business, Merco Ltd, which had been the master distributor of POLi in New Zealand, acquired local ownership of the system in order to keep it running there. POLi's site states that the existing development team was retained so the service would not be disrupted.
Where POLi Is Available
POLi is a New Zealand payment option. Australia Post shut POLi down in Australia on 30 September 2023, and from that date Merco took control of the service; POLi's own site states that the handover did not affect POLi merchants or customers in New Zealand. There is no POLi option for players in Australia.

POLi publishes no consumer fee and no transaction time for a POLi payment, so no figure is given for either.
