Online Casino Pai-Gow Poker

The name of Pai-Gow Poker was formed from a Chinese game call Pai-Gow and poker.  Instead of using dominos-style looking tiles, a standard deck of 52 cards is used in the American version styled after poker. In addition to the fifty-two played cards used for play there is an additional joker card in the deck.  Pai-Gow Poker is played on a table similar to that of the blackjack table with a semi circular shape. There are a total of six positions of playing on this table at separate and individual times. Players may not play more than one position simultaneously. Bets would be placed on the table inside a single circle.

How to Play Pai-Gow Poker at Online Casino Sites

Once bets are places, the player and the dealer get a total of seven cards each and spread between two hands.  The high hand or highest is defined as a five-card hand. And a two-card hand is considered the low hand or second highest. The point is to possess a hand that is better than the hand of the dealer. The joker card is viewed as an Ace instead of a wild card. When it is not being used as an Ace, it is only to be put into play for completing a hand like a flush, straight or straight flush. A typical game would go something like this:

  1. Player places a bet on a single circle for betting.
  2. Player triggers the counter in the center of the table to randomly select a number from 1 to 7 by clicking on the button marked as ‘deal’.
  3. Player positions are one through 6 and position 7 belongs to the dealer.
  4. Starting from the position that the counter selects, the cards are handed out in the amount of 7 each to every single position being played.
  5. The player keeps his or her cards dealt face up and the dealer keeps his or her cards dealt face down. All other cards are to be discarded.

Pai-Gow Poker Game Options

Player must do one of the following:

  1. Choose between a high (5-card) hand and a second highest (2-card) hand. If a high hand is chosen, then it must be higher in value than the second highest hand.
  2. Choose the ‘House Way’ option that tells the dealer to make the best card choice on behalf of the player. This option prevents hand selections mistakes.

What Determines a Win in Pai-Gow Poker

  1. A player wins if both of his (or her) 2-card and 5-card hands are higher than the 2-card and 5-card hand of the dealer.
  2. A player gets his or her wager back if a push is called, which happens when a single hand of the player ranks higher than hand of the dealer along with the other hand being equal or lower.

What Determines a Loss in Pai-Gow Poker

  1. A player takes a loss, as in loses, if both of the player’s hands equate to the same as the value of the dealer’s hand. This is considered a copy, in which case the dealer’s hands trumps the players.
  2. A player loses in any other types of situations not mentioned.

And that is how the average game play of Pai-Gow Poker is played. If a player wishes to play this fun game again, then pushing the rebet button would start a fresh game and the steps would be repeated. Even money is paid less the five percent commission to a player each time a win is made.  Losing hands or ties (pushes), are not subject to commission.
